Use this page to list some of the web 2.0 tools that help with information literacy. Give a brief definition of the tool and provide a link to the website.
Delicious is a social bookmarking site, where you can make your favorite sites available to you anywhere you have internet access. You can also use this to share sites with others and see what sites others are bookmarking. Tagging allows you to search for sites you've bookmarked or others have bookmarked. http://delicious.com/
It is so useful and informative on several educational sites, I often use it for ideas for lessons and presentations for my self and my students.
Personally, I enjoy Animoto, Prezi, and PollEverywhere, which are all linked on here!
Startino is an online, easy-to-use to do list. Tasks can be added, prioritized, and classified. It definitely helps develop organizational skills and helps users with task prioritization. Students could use this tool to create a to do list for a project they are working on. http://www.startino.com/
www.pinterest.com is also a social bookmarking site for marking your favorite projects. It is a great way find new ideas, by following what others have bookmarked.
I chose www.edistorm.com. It is a site that allows you to post lesson plans in a graphic manner, and other members can comment/give ideas to your plans. You could also create a library suggestion list, and people could log-on and post suggestions. The only negative feature is that you have to pay to subscribe to edistorm to create more than one or two free storms.
I went with www.dropbox.com. It is a site where you can upload all types of files to be shared with others. This has been a great tool in our classroom as we were able to use dropbox with our speech pathologist and reading specialist.
Kerpoof's multimedia software is used by kids worldwide to create original artwork, animated movies, stories, greeting cards and more. The site is meant to be fun, but we're serious about its educational value. Elementary and middle school teachers can use Kerpoof in many ways to enhance classroom activities while meeting a range of educational standards. http://www.kerpoof.com/teach
Kidblog http://kidblog.org/home.php
is a great blog website for use in the clasroom. I've seen it used for journaling and for responding to literature. There are lots of options in terms of security (who can see what is posted, who can comment, etc.). The teachers I've heard about who use this say they love it.
